Organically Grown Veggies and
      All Things Garden

OH, I have dreams!  Big, big dreams.  And I wear many hats...

Right now, we aren't selling produce.  I hope to have, in the future,  a small veggie stand out at the road, with chicken eggs and maybe crafty things for sale.

I will keep that posted here on this page and Facebook when I do.

In the meantime, I am happy to have been able to give food to some folks that needed it, feed our family healthy food, and educate folks that feel like talkin', learning some myself along the way too.

I'm working on all organic methods, while also having "pretty" vegetables.  This takes a lot of work, if you were unaware.  There's also a learning curve.  There are row covers over root crops, careful removal of pests, making sure they are the correct pests to remove.  Then there is the never ending battle to keep things from eating my veggies before I get to. Bunnies, deer, and birds are having their share of my produce.  Sigh...

Right now, I'm working on fencing and water infrasctucture for the whole farm.

I try to follow Joel Salatin's model at Polyface Farms, rotating crops, rotating different livestock to different areas of ground.  I'm building good soil on top of our hard-as-cement-in-summer clay with the stuff scooped out of the barn, and adding wood mulch to retain water. I'm using cows, goats, and pigs to clear land and stumpy hillsides into lush, rich pastures.   The chickens and pigs have been invaluable for tillers and for creating awesome compost. All the animals took their share in cleaning up the garden in Fall last year, enjoying it immensely.   Also, I have several slag piles that need dealt with, so I'll be having wood chips/mulch material for sale someday in the future, and that awesome "black gold" compost that makes plants go nuts. Hubs is feverishly fencing as fast as he can.

While I'm workin' my tail off out here, check out these "brag" pictures of the garden from 2019.

My goal is just to know what's in my food, eat whole, healthy food unadulterated by chemicals and GMO, and to hopefully share that produce with others.  I believe strongly in using food for healing, after watching both my aunt and cousin literally heal cancer with food.  But all this takes time.  And I need fencing done.  Keep pluggin away, right? Please join us in our journey on Facebook and the blog link at the top of the page.
